REMEMBERING MILES

This site was created in memory of our dear Miles. Our loving son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend.

Story

Born in Oakland, CA

AUGUST 12TH, 1996

On August 12, 1996, Miles Julian Busby was born to Valerie and Ronald Busby,

Sr. of Oakland, California. This precious angel was received in love by his mother, father, brother Ronald Busby, Jr., loving grandparents, and family. Miles was loved dearly by his parents and was the youngest of two sons. Sadly, Miles lost his beautiful mother, Valerie Chambers at 5 years old.

Community

Shortly after losing his mother Miles, his brother Ronald Jr., and his father relocated to Phoenix, Arizona.  Valerie’s death was difficult for him and his brother, however they were embraced by so much care and love, from grandmother Yvonne “Granny” Chambers, grandparents Willie T. and Carlos Busby, Aunts Della Chambers- Brewer, Alma Busby; caregiver Miss Anne Brown and a host of family friends. Miss Anne nicknamed Miles “snug-a-bug,” Alma tutored Miles from Washington and traveled to give Miles in-person “hands on” training, and Uncle Marlon Jackson was a constant during their time in DC . This community of family and friends were instrumental in raising Miles and Ronald and caring for them as they grew into young men.

Miles attended Winston Churchill High School in Bethesda, MD where he excelled in varsity basketball and later transferred, played basketball and graduated from Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, California.  Miles was known by his teachers and classmates for being charming, humorous and talented.

Baptismal

Miles attended church with his dad and brother, and accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized and received in love by the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona. This is where Miles received his teachings about the love of our Lord and Savior.  He frequently attended bible study and worked in the church as an usher.

Dreams

After high school Miles continued his journey in Oakland, California where he worked for Tesla, the Cheesecake Factory, and several other companies.

Miles was very stylish, loved to dress and was bold in his“vogueish” fashion. Miles enjoyed living and working in Oakland, California - the birthplace of his dear mother Valerie.

Talented

Miles could repair just about anything with no instructions such as computers, furniture and appliances. He also had a special gift and discernment for people with special needs. Miles enjoyed helping people and loved them

dearly. It was in Oakland where Miles pursued his dream of becoming a model. He was sought after by many companies for his thin frame, impressive height, distinct look, and bold fashion. Miles was beloved and appreciated by his employers.  He was favored by co-workers and was always the life of the party!

He moved to Glendale, California in 2018.  While there, he continued to pursue his modeling career.

JOURNEY

Miles departed this life on December 12, 2021.  Although we are very grief-stricken, we are also confident and able to rejoice in God’s word and promise “… to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Corinthians 5:8

Miles was preceded in death by his beautiful mother, Valerie Chambers, Oakland California.

Miles Busby leaves to mourn his father Ronald Busby, Sr. (Washington, D.C.), brother Ronald Busby, Jr (Oakland, CA), grandparents, Shelvery Lee and Yvonne Chambers (Oakland, CA), Carlos and Willie Busby (Lafayette, AL), aunts, Della Chambers- Brewer (Oakland, CA), Alma Busby (Olympia, WA), Yvonne Vester (Lafayette, AL), uncles Paul Chambers and Aaron Brewer (Oakland, CA).  Miles also leaves to mourn a host of loving cousins, family and friends.
